Mike's Mug

Michael is a self taught artist, who started his carving career at the age of 12 in Hay River North West Territories, Canada. At this time, over 25 years from his start, Michael now makes finely detailed sculpture using a wide variety of medium including antler, bone, mastodon tusk, wood, metal and stone ranging from soapstone to marble.

He has shown work in the 1995 Sooke Fine Arts Show and several group shows in his native Canada including 'Hidden Space' in Sooke British Columbia, 'In The Arts' in Victoria British Columbia and 'The Art Factory' in Whitehorse Yukon.

Michael has won awards for his work in competitive meets such as the Qualicum Beach Ice Carving Competition.

With his unique northern upbringing and Western Canadian background, Michael is sure to bring a fresh experience to the eastern art world.
